Agmark registration is applicable for Grading and Marking of commodities for the domestic market. It is applicable for
Food Processors, Printing Presses and Food Product Testing Labs in India.
AGMARK is a certification mark employed on agricultural products in India, assuring that they conform to a set of standards approved by the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), an agency of the Government of India.
The AGMARK is legally enforced in India by The Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) Act of 1937 (and amended in 1986).
The present AGMARK standards cover quality guidelines for over 200 different commodities like various Pulses, Cereals, Essential Oils, Vegetable Oils, Fruits & Vegetables, and semi-processed products like Vermicelli.
Agmark Laboratories
The Agmark certification is done through fully state-owned Agmark laboratories located across India.
Commodities and test
The Agmark testing done by these laboratories include chemical analysis, microbiological analysis, pesticide residue, and aflatoxin analysis on whole spices, ground spices, ghee, butter, vegetable oils, mustard oil, honey, food grains (wheat), wheat products (atta, suji, and maida), gram flour,soyabean seed, bengal gram, ginger, oil cake, essential oil, oils and fats, animal casings, meat and other food products.
Documents for Agmark registration
1. The test report/s done by an Agmark Approved Laboratory) details to include chemical analysis, microbiological analysis, pesticide residue, and aflatoxin analysis, etc. 2. Company registration cert & Memorandum & Articles of Association in case of private or public Limited Company or Partnership Deed in case of Partnership firm or Limited Liability Partnership 3. Board Resolution for authorising signatory of the Company or Partnership. 4. Particulars of directors/designated partners like PAN card, Aadhaar card, photos, IDs like Driving license, passport, DIN nos, bank passbook, etc. 5. Factory/Municipal Trade license copy 6. MSME Regn. Cert. 7. GST Registration cert. 8. Health NOC. 9. Product details like name, and sample of the product (packed in pouch of 500gm.1kg) with details of date, month & year of manufactured product, 10. Total gross product in Kgs.(for last year) 11. Turnover of last year (2021-22) 12. Rental agreement if it is a rented place 13. Sketch of the premises 14. List of machineries. 15.Medical fitness certificate of employee. 16. Specimen copy and sketch of trade brand labels. 17. Property Tax up-to-date tax receipt (Commercial --Business --Industrial) 18. Where the person is granted access to a State Approved Agmark laboratory the consent letter of the said laboratory also to be furnished.
Application for registration
The application for grant of Certificate of Authorisation for Grading and Marking of commodities for the domestic market,
may be made by a person or company online in Form A through the website https://dmi.gov.in or visit the nearest office of the Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI) for clarifications if necessary. in order to get the required application form. specifies the application .
Validity of certificates
Validity of Certificate of Authorisation is 5 financial years. Permission for Printing Press is 2 Calendar Years and approval to Private Commercial Laboratory is 2 years.
Service fees
Fees payable are Consultancy (Application & Advisory). to be paid in advance, Govt. Charges (Application Fees) - Rs.10, 000/- (per product category)and reimbursement of actual out of pocket expenses. All are to be paid in advance.
