Food licencing
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) wef 1st June 2020 replacing the existing Food Licensing and Registration System.
Food License Registration certificate is required to run a food product business. The application contains details name of applicant, address, photo ID, adhaar card proof, address of premises where the food items are prepared/manufactured/ distributed, wheter temporary or permanent license is requited, scale of business like large or petty food business, date of issue, validity period, date of renewal, license fee amount, etc.
The registration covers the manufacture, distribution and transportation of all food products.
FSSAI is established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The FSSAI has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. FSSAI Certificate and FSSAI License are same which ensures the quality, purity and other important factors that the customers can rely upon.
Types of Food licenses:
1. FSSAI FoSCos Basic License Annual turnover of the business is less than 12 lakhs/1 To 5 Years. Fees are Rs. 10,000/- (for the 1st year only) Including Govt. Fee. This excludes 18% GST.
2. FSSAI FoSCos State License Annual turnover of the business is between 12 lakhs to 20 crores/1 To 5 Years/Rs. 10,000/-. One Time. Thi excludes Govt. Fee & 18% GST.
3. FSSAI FoSCos Central License Annual turnover of the business is above 20 crores/1 To 5 Years/Rs. 10,000/-. One Time. This excludes Govt. Fee & 18% GST.
License fees
The business registration fees are Rs. 100/-. per annum. The Central license fees are Rs. 7500 /- per annum. The State License fees depend on type and scale of business and range from Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 5000/- per annum.
Documents required 1. Application 2. Self attested copy of Adhaar card 3. Address proof. 4. Document showing nature of business type- Public or Private Limited Company/ LLP/Partnership deed, Trust, Society, etc. 5. Municipal license 6. Shop license.
